A Game That Teaches Kids to Win in the Digital World
At Visualio, we love working on projects that want to make a difference. NetKnights is an interactive online game we created for the O2 Foundation to help children and even adults navigate the pitfalls of the internet. Playful, effective, and fun.

Introduction & Challenge
The O2 Foundation approached us with a mission: to design an educational game that teaches children how to spot fake news, respond to cyberbullying, and stay safe online. The challenge? To create something that would be educational, visually engaging, and entertaining enough to hold kids’ attention.

Solution & Process
We developed a game built around a single mission: defeat the Villain. Players explore a digital world while learning about cyberbullying, digital well-being, fake news, and safe data sharing. Every visual element was designed to balance education with fun - from robots and dialogues to colors and interface.
We collaborated closely with experts in cybersecurity, education, and child psychology to ensure the game was not only playful, but also developmentally sound.

Outcome & Impact
NetKnights reached over 21,000 users in its first few months - including kids, parents, and teachers.
It won 1st place in the 2024 Donors’ Forum Awards in the corporate foundation category and became part of exhibitions at Techmania and Karlštejn Castle. Thanks to its strong visual identity and clever game design, NetKnights has become a tool that doesn’t just entertain - it truly educates.

Social Impact
NetKnights has become a key part of O2 Foundation’s efforts to promote digital safety. Thanks to strong media support, school programs, and physical exhibits in science centers, the game has reached thousands of people across the country. It helps with raising digital literacy and teaches children to better understand what’s right and wrong in the online world.
